IIS7 running a v2 asp.net app gave this error when trying to lookup from DNS despite full trust being in place and having worked fine for years, and nothing changing in the server config (I suppose there could have been a windows update - but I don't have the time to muck around chasing the garbage that sometimes gets churned out).
No amount of fiddling with trust would fix it.
Removing the web site from IIS manager and recreating it fixed it. Go figure! :-(
